Storage

Most residence halls have storage areas for student belongings to be used during the academic year; summer storage is not permitted (except as noted below). Students must properly identify all items placed in storage. Items which are not properly identified and items belonging to students no longer affiliated with the College will be removed from storage for disposal.

  • All College furniture, furniture parts and mattresses must remain in the room at all times.
  • Storage is limited to three (3) boxes per student. For fire safety reasons, boxes must be at least 2/3 full or completely flattened.
  • Storage areas will be open at times designated by the Residence Life Office.
  • Carpets and couches are not permitted in storage due to space limitations and health concerns.

Students must work with their RA or the RA on duty to access the storage area. Campus Safety is not permitted to give students access to storage areas and so students should plan accordingly.

The College accepts no liability for items stored.

Summer storage

Storage of personal property on campus over the summer is not possible. It is each student's responsibility to arrange for storage of their belongings during the summer. All residence hall storage rooms will be emptied over the summer. There are a number of storage units located in the surrounding area. We recommend that several students share a storage unit to help maximize space usage and save money. The availability of storage units is limited in the area, so do not hesitate to coordinate storage early.

Storage pods

Cornell College occasionally receives requests from students who want to use commercial storage pods as a means of moving their things in or out. The College can permit a limited number of storage pods to be stationed on campus. Requests will be honored in the order in which they are received. Refer to our information on storage pods for complete details.

Bicycle storage

The Purple Bike Shop offers a limited amount of indoor bike storage for residential students over the winter months. Refer to the Purple Bike website for more details.
