Housekeeping

Cornell College provides housekeeping services to all common areas of the residence halls. This includes cleaning all lounges, laundry rooms, hallways, and common-area bathrooms. Please note that the housekeeping staff is intended to help in the upkeep of the facilities; however, it is the College's expectation that all students take an active role in caring for their community. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Disposing of all trash and recyclable materials in the appropriate containers in the building
  • Wiping down counters and sinks after using any of the bathroom and kitchen facilities
  • Clearly labeling any food or beverage in a common-area refrigerator with your name and room number (and promptly disposing of any expired food or beverage)

If a situation requires excessive cleaning, the residents of that building will be charged for any costs incurred (refer to the Residence Hall Policies, specifically the "Damages to Common Areas", for more details).

Students are responsible for cleaning their individual rooms (students who live in suites or College-owned apartments and houses are responsible for cleaning all common areas and bathrooms contained within the suite or apartment).  Students are expected to provide their own cleaning supplies for these areas.
