2024 Fall Sport Arrival Information
Student-athletes, trainers and managers who are involved in fall sports may be required to arrive on campus early to participate in preseason training and/or practice. This page is meant to provide general information for students and their families related to preseason arrival information. Each coaching staff will be in direct contact with their student regarding further instructions on arrival dates, times, and move-in procedures.
Below are the arrival dates for each fall athletic team. These dates were coordinated with the athletics department and are based on what is allowed through College policy and NCAA regulations. Students should expect that the date listed below is the earliest possible date and time they can check into campus housing and that requests to arrive earlier will not be able to be granted.

Check-in Process for Student Athletic Trainers
Students who are part of the athletic training staff for a fall sport are approved to arrive the day prior to the student-athletes for training and to assist with the athlete check-in process. These students may pick their room keys up from the Residence Life Office in Old Sem anytime between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on their approved arrival date. If the arrival date is on a weekend, keys will be available at the Campus Safety Office in Ebersole.
Check-in Process for Student-Athletes and Managers
Check-in for each team will take place at the above times in the Thomas Commons.
Upon arrival at your assigned check-in time, student-athletes should proceed to Ringer Dining Room to meet with the athletic training staff (all paperwork and athletic medical information must be completed and turned in during this time). Once completed, you may proceed to the check-in process.
When checking in, first-year and transfer students will begin with the New Student Orientation table to complete steps in the new student check-in process (student accounts, Division of Business and Enterprise Services, health services, and parking permits). Following the completion of these items, you will proceed to the Residence Life table.
Returning students and new students who've completed the New Student Orientation check-in process will stop at the Residence Life table to receive their room key. New and transfer students will also receive their student ID if a photo was submitted in advance (this will save you considerable time at check-in, so please be sure to submit prior to your move-in date). Students who did not submit a photo will be instructed on how to get to the Residence Life Office in Old Sem to have their picture taken and ID made. Returning students who have misplaced their ID can contact the Residence Life Office by August 1st to have a new ID made prior to their arrival.
Once you have completed all parts of the check-in process and receive your room key you can drive to your residence hall to unload your belongings and take them to your room. Pack light in reasonably-sized boxes as move-in assistance will not be available, and carrying heavy items up the stairs can be difficult. To ensure folks are able to get close to the buildings to unload, please do not park cars in the fire lanes or leave vehicles sitting unattended. Please unload all your items in your room first, then park your vehicle in an appropriate lot, and return to unpack and organize your room.
Students who are running late and not able to arrive by their assigned check-in time are encouraged to contact their coach as soon as possible for instructions on picking up keys and completing check-in.
NCAA Meeting
Following the check-in process, all student-athletes will receive information regarding athletic participation from athletic administrators and athletic trainers. Your coach will communicate the details of this meeting.
Parent Orientation
We know that many parents will not be returning to campus for the first-year student move-in day at the end of August, and we don’t want you to miss out on connecting with some important individuals. Parent orientation sessions with the Provost/Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs will be offered to provide information to parents of new students entering Cornell. Details of when and where this meeting will take place will be shared as they are made available.
Meals
The first meal served for athletic teams will be lunch on their official move-in day. First-students are asked to check-in first, then go to lunch. Returning students may attend lunch and then go through check-in. Meals will be held in the Hilltop Cafe. Students participating with fall sports teams are considered sponsored early arrivals and all early arrival housing and meal charges are covered by their athletic team. Student meal plans and flex cash do not begin until the dinner service on Saturday prior to classes starting.
