Performing Arts & Activities Council (PAAC)
What is the Performing Arts & Activities Council (PAAC)?
The Performing Arts and Activities Council (PAAC) is Cornell College's programming council serving the entire student body and Cornell campus.
Our mission is to provide a variety of entertainment options and activities for the ever-changing needs and wants of the Cornell College community. Our events include comedians, musicians, craft events, game shows, and so much more. We have something fun planned almost every week!
PAAC meetings are at 5:30pm every Thursday (except fourth week) in the PAAC office, which is located in the Thomas Commons right next to the Orange Carpet. All are welcome to attend! Look for posters around campus or like us on Facebook at Cornell College PAAC for more information on our upcoming events!
How Can I Get Involved in PAAC?
PAAC operates on a dedicated team of General Members. Becoming a General Member is easy: start coming to general meetings in the PAAC Office Thursdays @ 5:30pm! We welcome new people and will help you get involved around campus. Many people have previously been PAAC members like Resident Assistants, Orientation Leaders, Student Senate and student organization officers, and also first-year students looking for their first involvement opportunity on-campus.
Individuals looking for committed leadership opportunities should ask about our Executive Board (E-Board) positions available each year. During Block 5 and 6 the newly selected Executive Chair will solicit candidates for the rest of the Executive Board and they will together serve for approximately the following 12 months. These resume-building positions include:
Executive Chair: The executive chair is a returning E-Council member. They run general meetings and act as the point of contact for other student organizations and staff/faculty. They also plan the student focused Homecoming events with the help of the rest of E-Council.
Business Administrator: The business administrator is responsible for keeping the budget up to date and keeping meeting minutes and a few other office responsibilities. They are also welcome to lend a helping hand to other E-Council members!
Publicity Manager: The publicity manager runs our social media and designs our posters. They are an integral part in advertising our events.
Contracts Chair: The contracts chair is responsible for our music and comedy events. They are the main point of contact for the performer and they typically attend the National Association for Campus Activities conference, where the music and comedy events for the next year are chosen.
Purple Events Chairs: The Purple Chairs plan and run our other events, ranging from game nights with lots of prizes to fun and relaxing craft events. This position usually is held by several people.
