How to get involved with Student Senate

The main way to get involved with Student Senate is to talk to your current representatives. However, if you want to be more directly involved you may participate in the election processes throughout the year. There are two election processes during the academic year, one for Class Senators and one for the Executive Board.

Elections timelines

The election process for all Class Representatives takes place during the first block of the academic year. Students participating in the election process will attend an information session during week one of the block, petition and campaign for election during week two and three of the block, and ballots will be sent out on the third Friday of the block. Results for elections will be announced on Monday of the fourth week of the block.

The election process for Executive Board members takes place during the sixth block of the academic year. Students participating must attend an information session during week one, petition and campaign during weeks two and three, and ballots will be sent out on the third Friday. Results will be announced to the entire student body on Monday of the fourth week.

Requirements

To participate in the elections process and be included on the ballots during an election you must have all of the following:

  • A petition for candidacy with signatures from 10% of the body you wish to represent.
  • Attend an information session hosted by the Student Body Vice President.
  • A headshot and bio for the election ballots.
