Panopto is an inclusive video suite (like Microsoft office suit. It's main functions include
- Video Library- like a Cornell-specific Youtube portal

This page is meant to serve as a reference of Panopto's main functions and collection of directions to get set up Panopto in your Moodle pages. Panopto’s support site provides extensive help documentation and can be searched directly if your needs are not covered below. You can also watch a recording Panopto Basic Webinar, which briefly covers many of the below topics in 30-45 minutes.
Panopto and Moodle
Adding Panopto Block and provisioning Moodle course:

Open a Moodle course page

Make sure editing is turned on

Scroll to the very bottom of the left-hand menu, and click on “Add a block”

Click on “Panopto” in the popup window
-
The block will be added to the right-hand column of your course page (or bottom of the page if your screen/window is narrow)

Click on the “Provision Course” link (This is what creates a connection between Moodle and Panopto for your course, and gives you and your students access to Panopto.)

Click on the “Course Settings” link, and close the popup window
-
You can continue to click on the “Course Settings” link to enter the Panopto page without needing to login

If you go directly to our Panopto site (https://cornellcollege.hosted.panopto.com/), you will need to click on the CAS button on the Moodle login page.

Each Moodle Course can be connected to Panopto and will have its own folder in the Video Library (see “Adding Panopto Block...” above on how to connect Panopto to your Moodle Course)

Assignment folder- Turning this feature on allows students to record/create Panopto videos.

Zoom Panopto Integration

Once you have have a Panopto account established (provisioning the Panopto Block once is enough), Zoom cloud recordings will automatically be added to your My Folder in Panopto

How to install Panopto Software

If you have a Cornell PC (if off campus, log into the GlobalProtect VPN)

Click on the search icon in the Taskbar

Search for “Software Center”
-
Under “Applications,” select “Panopto Recording Client” (if it isn’t in the list, restart your computer)

Follow any other prompts to install

If you have a Cornell Mac, you will need to contact IT to have the software installed.

If you want to install the software onto your own computer

There are download links in the Panopto Moodle Block and a few places within the Panopto Video library.

Videos with a folder for a course will automatically be shared with your students

You can use the Panopto LTI, under “Add an Activity or Resource” in Moodle or copy the Share link to place individual videos within your Moodle page as a Moodle URL Resource

Hiding videos from students within a course folder: Settings>Overview>Availability (This lets you work on videos within a course folder and not have them available to students until you are done or want them to view them)

Deleting a video: Settings>Manage>Delete
