2020 Commencement Recap

Cornell College officially celebrated the Class of 2020 twice—first in May 2020 by conferring degrees on 223 students during its first-ever Virtual Commencement ceremony (below), and again a year later with an in-person, outdoor, physically distanced ceremony.

Forty percent of the class journeyed back to campus for their 2021 celebration on Van Metre Field at Ash Park. Sofia Schnur was elected as class speaker and Professor of Music and Dean of the College Emeritus Joe Dieker was the faculty speaker.

"Cornell has truly prepared us for whatever lies ahead," Schnur told her classmates. "In our four years here, not only did we integrate and apply knowledge, grow as people, take responsibility, and appreciate individuality, but we made lifelong friendships, discovered new passions, set higher standards for ourselves, and partied with DJ Moz at Scorz. I am very proud of all of us and I have no doubt that no matter what paths we choose to take, we will continue to be successful."
