April 2024 is the 23rd anniversary of the National Sexual Violence Resource Center's promotion of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) but the movement has been active in the United States much longer. Learn more about SAAM history.

Wear Teal Day

April 2
Show support for survivors of sexual harassment and abuse by wearing teal- the color of sexual violence prevention. Teal is the official color of SAAM.

Denim Day

April 24
Everyone is encouraged to wear denim for this campus event to raise awareness of rape and sexual assault and to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence.

White Ribbon Campaign

April 1-30
Men's campaign to work to end violence against women. Men who choose to participate wear a white ribbon and sign a pledge card stating that they will never commit, condone, or remain silent about violence against women.

Art Showcase & Reception

April 24, 6pm
Iowa Hall, Kirkwood Community College

Riverview Center and Amani Services

Riverview and Amani provides trained advocates to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Riverveiw and Amani offer on campus advocacy to students each block. To schedule an appointment to meet with an advocate contact Mariam (Riverview) or Candace (Amani).

Waypoint Services

Waypoint provides shelter and support for women and families in crisis due to domestic violence or sexual assault. 319-365-1458
