Studio Art Senior Work

Senior Capstone and Thesis Exhibitions

The senior capstone experience prepares students for sustained success as artists after graduation. Each student receives a studio space on the 4th floor of McWethy Hall for the duration of their senior year. At least two blocks are devoted to independent study in which a faculty member acts as a mentor in the student’s development of a creative practice.

Students also enroll in a block long senior seminar in which they are exposed to established theory surrounding the creation of art, receive critical feedback on artist statements/research, learn about creative opportunities post-graduation, and how to market themselves as artists and designers.

In April each studio art major mounts a solo exhibition from the work they developed throughout the year. Images from previous exhibitions can be viewed in our highlights album on Flickr.
