Learn the language of ancient Romans, medieval monks, and Renaissance humanists--a language with nearly 2000 years of literature and history!

The three course sequence (LAT 101, 102, 205) fulfills the B.A. language requirement.

No previous foreign language experience needed.

How do performance, genre, gender, and social and cultural values shape the Greek view of the hero. Readings from Homer or the Attic dramatists in the original Greek. Prerequisite: GRE 205. Augustus

Study of the Golden Age of Latin literature. Readings from Vergil, Ovid, Horace, or the Roman love elegists in the context of Augustus' rise to power as Rome's first emperor. Prerequisite: LAT 205. Offered every third year. (Humanities)
