Intercultural Life

Cornell college students participating in ICL activities

Welcome to ICL!

We plan programs, initiatives, and provide services that will help ALL students address common areas of concern: academic, cultural, and spiritual.

We organize events that help international students get to know each other—as well as domestic students—and to get more comfortable in their new home on the Hilltop.

We also help Cornellians connect to campus clubs and organizations that match their interests. The best way to find out what we do is to join us at one of our upcoming events.

Our Mission

The Mission of Intercultural Life is to promote an appreciation and understanding of intercultural relations through, but not limited to, cultural, intellectual, and social diversity. The Office will strive to provide appropriate resources and services which help disseminate knowledge of culture, diversity, and tips on functioning in a diverse and intercultural world.

Vision

Our vision is to create an environment where cultural literacy and positive intercultural relations are an integral part of the campus culture.

  1. Minimize student challenges both culturally and socially.
  2. Encourage student leadership amongst historically marginalized and underrepresented student populations.
  3. Provide cultural awareness.
  4. Establish positive and ongoing relationships with the campus and the larger community promoting strong intercultural relations.

ICL programs and events

The office of Intercultural life offers a variety of events throughout the academic year that give you the opportunity to explore cultures and ideas that you might not have experienced yet. You might find us on the OC, hanging out at the firepit, or gathering at the Inez Stoner House. We welcome everyone on campus to join us to learn more about one another and celebrate the diversity our backgrounds bring to the campus community. Some of our annual events include:
