Transcript FAQ for Cornell Alums

Transcript requests are generally processed once daily. At times, there may be a delay when the information does not match our records or if additional verification is needed.

When you submit your request online, you will have the option to order a physical copy sent via mail or you can have it emailed as a PDF. We recommend that you order transcripts electronically, as it is both faster and less expensive.

Financial Hold:  If there is a financial hold on your student record, you must resolve this issue before a transcript can be released. Questions regarding financial obligations to the College should be directed to 319-895-4593 or studentaccounts@cornellcollege.edu

Issued to Student: Mail transcripts issued to the student are stamped “Issued to Student” and enclosed in a sealed envelope. If you are forwarding the transcript to another party (e.g., another college or university, potential employer, etc.) where an official transcript is required, you should not open the envelope. Please note that most colleges, universities, employers, and other official entities will likely require an official copy sent directly from Cornell College.

Unofficial Transcripts: In order to comply with federal law and Cornell policy, unofficial copies of Cornell transcripts are available to currently enrolled students only in Self-Service and the Cornell Registration System. They do not bear the registrar’s signature or College seal and are for your use only.

Credit hours:  Each Cornell course is the equivalent of 4 semester hours or 6 quarter hours using the standard Carnegie definition of a credit hour.  Each course meets for a minimum of two and three quarters hours per day, as required under the Carnegie definition, and requires a proportional amount of work outside class.  Full description of OCAAT (link to college page). A full explanation of the Cornell College official transcript can be found by accessing the Official Cornell College Transcript Explanation.
