Geology Field Courses

As a geology major, you will take full advantage of the freedom offered by the block plan to go on field trips lasting from 1 to 21 days. You will study geology in the field in almost every class you take, including the following:

Local field trips

• Outcrops across Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota
• Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum of Natural History (Chicago)
• St. Francois Mountains of southeastern Missouri
• Black Hills of South Dakota
• Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee

International field courses

As a geology major, you’ll go on an extended international field course.
