Flex Dollars

Flex dollars are a declining balance that can be used in Zamora's Market (when it is in operation), to pay for meals in the Hilltop Cafe during the parts of Fall Break and Spring Break when the meal plan is not active, and to swipe a guest in at the dining hall. Students, faculty and staff can add flex dollars to their card. Users who register their meal plan account can check their balance at any time, and add additional flex dollars to their account.

Flex dollars that come with the 14 meal plan option carry over between fall and spring semester but expire at the conclusion of spring semester. Unused flex dollars from fall semester expire at the beginning of the second semester if, during the approved time frame to change meal plans, the student chooses to switch to the 20 meal plan option.

Students who leave campus for early graduation prior to the end of a semester, are approved for a smaller meal without flex dollars, or otherwise change their meal plan away from one with flex dollars will be asked to repay flex dollars if they exceed $50 flex dollars spent per Block during the semester they had the meal plan with flex. For example, a student with a 14 meal plan (plus $200 flex cash) who graduates at the conclusion of Block 2, and who has spent all $200 of their flex cash in that time will be billed for $100 in flex cash used that was intended for Block 3 and 4.

Flex dollars that students add directly to their card carry over from year to year.
