Anne Busha, Kelly Siglin '10 and Ariel Glasman '11

During the summer of 2009, Kelly Siglin '10 and Ariel Glasman '11 worked with Psychology Professor Anne Busha on a research project. The students documented the work of an Eastern Iowa group focused on reproductive health issues. They videotaped oral histories of community organizers and evaluated the data within the context of policy change at the state and national levels. The fieldwork was complimented by traditional academic research on reproductive health policy.

After interviewing the subjects, some of whom were octogenarians, Siglin said, "I know that I want to go on to get my Ph.D. in counseling, and I've been debating as to what kind of counseling I should do. Working with the elderly on this project has started to steer me in the direction of geriatrics."
