Student Government: Student Senate

Cornell College Student Senate body 2023-2024

Purpose

The Student Senate of Cornell College’s primary purpose is to be a voice for the entire student body to the faculty, staff, and administration of Cornell College. All representatives on the Student Senate make contributions for the betterment of all students by maintaining transparent communication and unbiased perspectives.

Responsibilities

Student Senate members discuss issues, address complaints, and solve problems for the betterment of the entire student body. Representatives vote to create new organizations, give organizations funding, and solve issues facing students. Members of Student Senate also attend many meetings on behalf of the student body in order to discuss issues further and collaborate with different campus partners on projects and solutions.

Meetings

General Assembly is the main convocation of Student Senate where all student body representatives meet and bring forward any business. This convocation takes place on each Tuesday of the block, excluding fourth week, from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm on the Orange Carpet.

Representatives also meet in committees at different times throughout the block which can be found on the individual committee’s webpage.
