Hello.
We're excited that you stopped by to learn more about Cornell and our Ramily. Our students explain Ramily best:
What is it like to study here?
You might already know that we approach academics a little differently than most four-year colleges; our Ingenuity curriculum is a skill-building curriculum meant to help you gain hands-on experience that prepares you for a lifetime of careers. And our classes are taught One Course At A Time, meaning you and your professor only focus on one class every 18-day block. You work closely with your academic advisor to plan 8 blocks every year pursuing a traditional major or creating one custom to your goals and interests. (That's the same number of courses you'd take at a traditional semester school—just a different approach to them.) Here's what an academic year looks like

How do you make the most of the 8 blocks a year you'll spend at Cornell? Guidance from your academic advisor will make sure you are choosing the right classes, and professors who only teach one class each block, yours, means making meaninful connections to your material and everyone in your classroom.

Living on campus, what's it like?
Our campus is small enough that you'll get to know people well, and diverse enough that you'll meet people you might not have encountered at other midwest campuses. On the block plan, you'll have "block friends" who are the people you see in class every day for 18 days; this means you'll get to know the other people in class well, and there will never be more than 25 of you in one room. You'll see the rest of the student body in our campus hub, the Thomas Commons, in one of our nearby residence halls, or maybe at our new Athletics and Wellness Center, the SAW.
Admission and costs
We believe that a private liberal arts experience is an opportunity that should be available to as many students as possible and we strive to make our costs transparent and easy to understand. How?
- We don't require ACT or SAT test scores to apply to Cornell; when you apply our admission counselors review all of your materials to get to know you and help you decide if Cornell is right for you.
- We don't make you wait and wonder if you're admitted—our goal is to give you an admission decision and scholarship info within two weeks of receiving your application.
- All first-year students at Cornell receive at least a $31,000 merit scholarship; some qualify for more or can earn talent awards in addition to their scholarship.
- Our financial aid counselors are here to help you figure out how to get the most assistance possible between scholarships, grants, and affordable loans to attend Cornell.
