Transferring Mid-year to Cornell

How does transferring to Cornell mid-year work?

If you’re transferring to Cornell College we accept new students throughout the year and allow students two start dates in the first half of each semester without having to play catch-up in any of your coursework. You can start in Block 1 or 2 in the fall semester, or Block 5 or 6 in the spring semester.

Transferring at spring or fall semester

Transferring at the beginning of a semester is the most common way students enter Cornell. Our fall semester starts with Block 1 in mid-August, and our spring semester starts with Block 5 in mid-January each year. This is the path you’ll likely take if you are transferring from another two semester school or find that you’ve completed an AA or other program earlier than planned.

Spring semester application deadline: November 1
Fall semester application deadline: March 1

Transferring after the semester starts

Sometimes you get started somewhere and realize it’s not the right fit, or maybe you want to be closer to home than you originally thought. Whether you’re in your first year, or your third or fourth year, you still have options that won’t disrupt your progress to your degree. That’s where transferring in Block 2 or Block 6 at Cornell might come in handy. Block 2 starts in late September, and Block 6 starts in mid-February. Here’s our guide to what to think about when trying a new college.
