Major Requirements

A minimum of eleven course credits in Theatre, including:

  • Basic Acting, Advanced Acting, or Acting Studio (115, 215, or 310)
  • Stagecraft or Costume Construction (107 or 108)
  • Directing I (311)
  • Play Analysis (201)
  • Two courses in theatre history and criticism (341-345, 376-379)
  • Eight adjunct courses from Cornell stage productions, 1/4 credit each. (See catalogue course descriptions for details)
  • Three additional full-credit Theatre courses, at least one above 300 level

Note: In addition to the first-year courses listed, we recommend a course in the theatre history and criticism area in the first or second year.  Following the first year sequences will vary considerably and for some students might involve internships, special projects and independent study courses as well as a broad variety of OCAAT courses offered within the department. We pride ourselves on our abiliity to tailor paths to individual students.
