Major & Minor Requirements

Major Requirements
A minimum of twelve course credits in theatre, including:
- Basic Acting (115), Advanced Acting (216), or Acting Studio (310)
- Stagecraft (107) or Costume Construction (108)
- Play Analysis (201)
- Directing I (311)
- Any one of the following:
- Classics of Dramatic Literature (347)
- Contemporary Drama (346)
- Two credits comprised of eight adjunct quarter-credit courses as follows:
- At least one quarter-credit of Directing and Performance (THE 715)
- At least two quarter-credits of General Production Practicum (THE 750), taken as early as possible
- At least one quarter-credit of Scenery and Props (THE 751), Costumes and Make-up (752), Lighting and Sound (753), or Theatre Administration and Stage Management (754)
- And the remaining four quarter-credits earned at the election of the student from any of the following: THE 715, 750, 751, 752, 753, 754
- Three additional full-credit courses from the theatre department, at least one of which must be at the 300 level. One of the following courses may be substituted:
- Masterpieces of Greek and Roman Theatre (CLA 364)
- Theatre, Architecture, and the Arts in England (ENG 240)
- Shakespeare I: Comedies and Romances (ENG 323)
- Shakespeare II: Histories and Tragedies (ENG 324)
- Shakespeare after Shakespeare: Performance and Cultural Criticism (ENG 327)
Recommended Course Sequence

Note: In addition to the first-year courses listed, we recommend a course in the theatre history and criticism area in the first or second year. Following the first year sequences will vary considerably and for some students might involve internships, special projects and independent study courses as well as a broad variety of OCAAT courses offered within the department. We pride ourselves on our ability to tailor paths to individual students.
Minor Requirements
A minimum of six course credits in Theatre including:
- THE 115, 216, or 310
- THE 107 or 108
- THE 201
- Any one of the following:
- THE 343-345, 348, 376-379
- THE 346 or 347
- One credit comprised of at least two different participation quarter-credit courses chosen from the following:
- THE 715, 750-754
