Responding to Flu-like Symptoms

If a medical professional recommends that you isolate for flu-like symptoms:

  • Tell your RA.
  • Fill out our self-reporting form.
  • Return to your family home for isolation, if possible.
  • Tell your roommate.
  • If isolating in your on-campus residence wear a mask to the bathroom, or when interacting with others.
  • Contact your professor if you will miss class.  Student Health will not provide doctors’ notes to give to faculty if we have not seen you.

To request meal delivery:

  • Ask a friend to take your ID to Sodexo for a take out meal, or order a sick sack at ext. 4499 for pickup.  If you have trouble finding someone to get your food, speak with your RA.

If your roommate has been asked to isolate:

  • Call Residence Life at ext. 4113 for a short-term relocation if desired.
  • Clean your space, including door knobs and appliances, with a multipurpose cleaner such as Formula 409.

Tips for avoiding illness:

  • Wash hands often with soap.
  • Use antibacterial wipes to frequently clean room surfaces.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Cough or sneeze into your sleeve, not your hand.
  • Get a seasonal flu shot and H1N1 vaccine, once available.
