Connecting to ResNET
- Make sure that your network cable is plugged into the network jack on your
wall. The network jack is larger than the phone jack but they look very similar. Do not force your phone or network cable. They should slide into the port easily and click when they are in.
- Start up Internet Explorer, Firefox, or another browser.
- After a few seconds you will be redirected to a page asking you to install Clean Access. Click yes to proceed and click yes for the security Warning.
- You will be asked for a user name and password. Enter your Cornell College user name (usually your first initial and last name with a dash between them for the user name).

If you are using a non-Windows machine you will be connected after a brief system scan. If you are using a Windows machine, continue with step 5.
- Click on the download Clean Access Agent link, choose yes if prompted, and choose run from location.
- Click Next twice and then click Install to begin the install. After Clean Access installs it will pop up and ask you to login
- Login using your Cornell username and password.

- Clean Access will then check to verify that you have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed. If you do not have it installed it will prompt you to download it. Save it someplace you can find it, your desktop is probably the easiest place. Install SP2 and then click next.
- After Clean Access has verified that you have Service Pack 2 it will make sure you have a virus scanner installed. You may use either AVG, Trend Micro PC-Cillin, Norton, or McAfee.
If you do not have a virus scanner installed Cornell will provide you with a copy of McAfee 8.0 which clean access will prompt you to download and install. You can get a copy of McAfee at:
\\srv5\Install\Public\McAfee\VirusScan\Home Edition
- Go to http://secure.cornellcollege.edu/software
- Click on the McAfee link
- If you are asked for a user name and password enter your Cornell user name and passwordr

- Go into the install, then public, then McAfee, then VirusScan, then Home Edition folders.
- Double Click VSEN7RHU.exe to run the installation.
- Select United States for the country and accept the license agreement after reading it.
- Choose the typical installation and click next
- When finished you can run a scan to check your computer for viruses
- After Clean Access has verified that you have Windows XP Service Pack 2 and a virus scanner from the above list installed it will then allow you access to the network. You will notice that Clean Access runs in the system tray.
