Cornell Off-Campus Course – Final Faculty Report

Welcome back from your Cornell Off-Campus Course. Please take a few minutes to complete the online Final Faculty Report to help us identify the off-campus course’s successes and difficulties. This information is essential to assisting the Office of International & Off-Campus Study to plan and coordinate future courses. It is also helpful for faculty members teaching off-campus courses for the first time.

Please provide a general overview for each topic below, discuss any significant issues and make suggestions for the next course. The final report will be read by the Office of International & Off-Campus Study, the Associate Dean, and under certain circumstances may also be shared with other Cornell faculty and staff working with off-campus study who might benefit from reading the report.

It is possible that not all topics listed will apply to every program.

Final Faculty Report

Please comment on the academic issues of the off-campus course.

Your response may include:

- A description of the academic content

- Any guest speakers/lectures (For example: quality of lecture, relationship to the course, etc.)

- A description of any relationships with host institutions, program providers and/or tour groups contributing to the academic aspects of the course.

- A description of the academic facilities (For example: classrooms and computer labs)

- Any suggestions for future courses

Please comment on the following non-academic issues of the off-campus course.

For all sub-topics, suggested areas of commentary have been listed. Please provide information about:

Housing (faculty & student)

- Were needs met?

- Was it a good value?

Excursions & Activities

- How were arrangements made?

- What sites were visited?

- Any suggestions for alternate sites?

Communication

- What means (phone, fax, email) were available to faculty and students?

- Were they adequate?

Student Issues

- Describe group dynamics

- Were there any behavioral difficulties?

- How were they managed?

Health & Safety Information

- Were there health issues (specific to the program location) that affected students and/or faculty?

- Were there personal safety issues that affected students and/or faculty?

Please comment on budgeting for the off-campus course.

Your response may include:

- Did the budget meet the course’s needs?

- Were there unexpected costs?

- How was the course advance conveyed to the site by the faculty? What method was used to access money? (Travelers checks, cash, overseas bank account, ATM, pre-loaded travel card)

- Where was the best exchange rate found? What was the average rate?

Please provide an overall evaluation for the off-campus course.
