PA Application Process

The following information details the process to apply for the Peer Advocate (PA) position,

Step 1: Review the PA job description

Step 2: Attend an optional information session (dates and times are listed below)

Step 3: E-mail your cover letter and resume no later than February 7, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. (suggested resources to help you with your resume and cover letter are listed below) & attend a Cornell Leadership Certificate Program session and earn a certificate.  All PA's will be expected to earn a certificate as a part of their hiring. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COMPLETE THE CLCP REQUIREMENT PRIOR TO SUBMITTING APPLICATION MATERIALS.

  • E-mail these materials to Tera Kringle (TKringle)

Step 3: Attend the required group process in Week 1 of Block 6

Step 4: Complete an individual interview between February 17 - February 28 (details will be provided soon, but suggested resources to help you prepare are listed below)

Step 6: Complete an online form authorizing a check of grade point average and Cornell College conduct to ensure eligibility (Cornell username and password is required)

We encourage you to attend one of the following information sessions. Sessions are offered at the following times:

  • Tuesday, December 17 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in Stockholm in the Thomas Commons
  • Monday, January 13 from 11:30 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. in MLK in the Thomas Commons
  • Tuesday, January 14 from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in MLK in the Thomas Commons

Optional Resume and Cover Letter Help

We encourage you to visit the Career Engagement Center's web site for help in creating your resume or help in writing your cover letter. In addition, the CEC will offer the following workshops:

  • Resume workshop: Tuesday, January 21 at 4 p.m. in  Hedges in the Thomas Commons
  • Cover letter workshop: Thursday, January 23 at 4 p.m. in Hedges in the Thomas Commons
