King Chapel Renovation Project

King Chapel

A range of structural, functional, and aesthetic improvements to King Chapel are being completed as funds become available. See a full gallery of recent King Chapel renovations.

In 2012, an elevator addition will be constructed near the southeast entrance to King Chapel, the historic centerpiece of Cornell College’s campus. The elevator project is part of a larger, $2.5 million renovation of King Chapel.

In 2010, the main roof was repaired and the slate tiles were replaced with lighter, more durable composite tiles. In 2011, the carpet was replaced, the clock and carillon were repaired, and a number of improvements were made to the building's interior, including plaster repair, improved acoustics, and a larger stage.

Future plans include replacing the roofs of each tower as well as further structural work to the Victorian gothic building. These improvements will be scheduled as funds become available.
