Outlook Secure Connection Settings

  • Open Outlook
  • If this is the first mail account on you computer, a wizard will start. If not, select E-mail Accounts from the Tools menu
  • Select the Add a new account and click Next

  • Click on Add…

  • Select IMAP and click Next

  • Enter your name and email address
  • In the Incoming and Outgoing mail server fields, change the entry to -
    mail1.cornellcollege.edu
  • Enter your logon information
  • Click on More Settings…

  • Select the Outgoing Server tab and place a check next to My outgoing server requires authentication

  • Select the Advanced tab
  • Under Incoming mail (IMAP) check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
  • Under Outgoing mail (SMTP) check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
  • Select OK to accept the changes

  • Click Next in the Email Accounts dialog box
  • Click Finish

You should now be able to send and receive mail using the new secure IMAP or POP connection. If not please contact the Office of Information Technology for further assistance.
