Outside Scholarship Opportunities
The following are scholarship opportunities that we have received in our office for the 2013-2014 academic year. Some of them have provided a web site that you can go to to download an application or get additional information. LEADERS IN VOLUNTEERISM SCHOLARSHIP
The Leaders In Volunteerism Scholarship of $500.00 is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior or college student who is actively involved in volunteerism.
The eligibility requirements are:
- Must either be a graduating senior at either Jefferson, Kennedy, Washington, Metro, Xavier, Linn-Mar, Marion, or Prairie high school, or be currently enrolled at Kirkwood Community, Coe, Cornell, or Mount Mercy college. Priority is given to applicants who volunteer at a current Leader in Volunteerism member’s organization.
- Must be a student in good standing.
- Must complete the application form.
- Must write a 400-500 word essay entitled: "The Impact of My Volunteer Work on My Life and Community.”
- Must submit two letters of reference. Letters from family members will not be accepted. One of the reference letters must be from someone who has supervised the applicant directly in a non-school-related volunteer activity. Please do not send more than two reference letters.
- Must be willing, if asked, to attend an interview session with the LIV selection committee.
- Must be willing to attend a LIV meeting to accept award if chosen.
- NOTE: DO NOT SEND transcripts, more than 2 reference letters, or additional materials.

iModules is proud to be able to give back to our clients and the communities they serve by helping students with their academic pursuits. Now in its seventh year, the iModules Scholarship Program annually provides individual financial scholarships to students enrolled in secondary or higher education institutions that are current iModules clients.
13 scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,500 for the 2014-2015 school year.

Goedekers College Scholarship
Goedeker’s believes in your potential and would love to see you flourish. That is why we are offering a $500 grand prize scholarship toward costly college textbooks.
Any student that is enrolled in an accredited college is eligible to participate. This includes any grade level, freshman to senior; undergrad and graduate alike are eligible. Even if you are a transfer student, non-traditional student, or taking classes online, you can enter. Any major or field of study is acceptable.
High school seniors that are enrolled in an accredited college, either for a dual credit program or for an upcoming semester, are eligible to enter as well.

College Scholarship Writing Contest
Interested students can write a brief essay with the winner being selected from teh essays submitted. This is a merit schoalrship and is available to all students attending accredited institutions of higher learning. Entries must be submitted on or before July 1, 2014. Value of the scholarship is $1000
Sixt rent a car Scholarship 2014/2015
Sixt rent a car is offering five graduating high school seniors the opportunity to receive a $5,000 scholarship and the chance to become a Sixt Scholar. The program is designed to assist high school students who plan to continue their education in college. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The Thermo Scientific Pierce Scholarship Program
The Thermo Scientific Pierce Scholarship Program for the Fall 2014 semester includes two (2) $10,000 scholarships and four (4) $5,000 scholarships, to be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students with a declared major of biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related life-science field. To qualify for the scholarship, students must have a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and be enrolled in an accredited college for university for the Fall 2014 semester. In addition to these qualifications, students must also be legal United States residents, meaning that students possessing appropriate Visa status in order to study in the United States are also eligible.
Students may apply for the scholarship through the Thermo Scientific Pierce Scholarship Website. Applications will be accepted until 2:59:59 p.m. CT on August 1, 2014. Each application will be reviewed and evaluated by a scholarship committee and announced to the chosen recipients by August 14, 2014. Business and Professional Women of Iowa Foundation Scholarship
The Business and Professional Women of Iowa (BPW/Iowa) Foundation is now taking applications for educational scholrships for the 2014-2015 academic year.
Five $1000 scholarships will be available to those who apply and meet the following criteria:
- Submit an application postmarked by the deadline of March 21, 2014.
- Provide a copy of official transcripts from an accredited institution of higher learning, Acceptable if stamped "issued to student."
- Is a United States citizen
- Is a resident of Iowa
- Is a non-traditional student--graduated or should have graduated five or more years ago before March 21, 2009
- Provide three signed letters of reference as to character and need for this scholarshipo from employer/manager, instructor/professor and/or leaders in community activities who can attest to their involvement. Non-relatives only.
