Dimensions Associate Director
Julie Barnes is the Dimensions Associate Director at Cornell College. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Arts degree in psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Prior to joining the Cornell staff, she served for 17 years as the Substance Abuse Services and the Victim Services Coordinator at the University of Northern Iowa. During her tenure, she implemented an anonymous reporting system for relationship violence, helped make substantive revisions to the university’s Student Conduct Code and the Sexual Misconduct Policy, and helped author and administer U.S. Department of Justice Office of Violence Against Women grants.
She was active in the Network: Addressing Collegiate Alcohol, Other Drug and Violence Issues, serving as a member of the Public Relations Committee and the Executive Committee. Julie has extensive grant-writing experience and frequently serves as a peer reviewer for grant competitions funded by the U.S. Department of Education. She and her family live in rural Palo.
