Adoption
The wait may exceed nine months, but few adoptive parents dwell on the gestation stage of their experience. Instead they remember boarding the airplane with a shy Nicaraguan son. Or being handed a newborn daughter by a birth mother. Or secretly staring at a young girl at the school where they worked, wondering if they’d be crazy to consider adoption at their age.
