 During her three years in Cornell’s Lunch Buddies mentoring program, Kristin Wallace Burch ’01—often accompanied by her then-fiancé, Marcus Burch ’99—spent many noon hours eating and playing games during recess with Mount Vernon grade-schooler Jared Parker (pictured) and his younger brother, Joel. “They were a big part of my college life,” said Kristin, one of 60 Cornell students in Lunch Buddies during the past academic year. In April they had a final, tearful Lunch Buddies encounter (right). In May the brothers served as candle lighters at the Cornellians’ wedding. The couple lives in Iowa City, where he is a third-year law student and also pursuing a master’s degree in chemistry at the University of Iowa.
