Addison Ault (chemistry), who taught at Cornell for 50 years, was honored with a celebration and dinner on April 14. Guests included former students and colleagues.
Shawn Patrick Doyle (writing studio) was named one of the 50 best creative writing teachers on Twitter in May by the online education directory worldwidelearn.com. He works mainly with first-year students and writes a blog called “Good writer, bad writer.”
John Gruber-Miller (classical studies) was honored in March with an Ovatio (Ovation) from the Classical Association of the Middle West and South for distinguished service and leadership. The Ovatio, delivered in Latin at the annual banquet, cited Gruber-Miller’s accomplishments in promoting the study of Latin, building a thriving classics program at Cornell, and editing the journal Teaching Classical Languages. The text of the ovation will be published in the fall issue of Classical Journal.
Heidi Levine (dean of students) was interviewed for the “Leaders and Innovators” section of the March edition of “Student Affairs Today” about student success and mental health problems.
