My fellowship experience:
I gained a great deal of hands on experience with research. I learned about research techniques, protocols and challenges. I was also able to collaborate with other researchers on various projects and really experience the feel of clinical outcomes-based research. I was also able to shadow doctors, both in surgery and in clinic, a physical therapist and an ortho technician. Overall, it made me more confident with patient interaction, research strategies and data analysis. It was an incredibly positive experience and well worth it. It also helped me to determine the career path I wanted to take within the broad field of medicine.

Aims of the Fellowship
-Design an online version of functional knee scores, as well as data collection instruments.
-Prepare mailings for patients.
-Complete a chart review including relevant surgical details for each patient.
-Contact all patients in the possible pool to complete a phone survey and request return of the mailed outcome scores.
-Some data analysis of information recieved (had a great deal of help at this point as I am not particularly statistically inclined).
