Classical Mythology
at Cornell College
Classical Mythology (CLA 216) explores the stories of the gods and heroes of ancient Greece and Rome and traces their influence on art, dance, literature, music, poetry, and theater from antiquity to the present. Students have the chance to read classics such as Homer's Iliad or Odyssey, tragedies by Sophocles or Euripides, and Ovid's Metamorphoses. Many of these works are on-line (see Perseus under Mythology Resources). In addition, students have made use of library materials and the World Wide Web to create sites devoted to particular divinities or heroes both in antiquity and in the modern world.
