Vacation TermsFull-time degree candidates, with the exception of seniors and Continuing Education students, are permitted only one vacation term in any academic year (September through May). To take a term off, students must register for a vacation in the same way they register for a regular course. Students who take an illegal vacation, i.e., a term off without recording this with the Registrar or more than one vacation in an academic year, will be subject to action by the Academic Standing Committee (see Report and Probation). Students with special problems that necessitate reducing the number of courses they can take in an academic year should read the section on ``Reduced Programs.'' Refunds and adjustments in a student's tuition, fees, and room and board charges are not made for vacation terms except, under certain conditions, for graduating seniors who can fulfill their degree requirements in fewer than eight terms. Because the ninth term is free, no refund is given to seniors or others who do not take it. Students who have been placed or continued on Probationary Suspension for any reason and those who are on Report or Probation because of a deficiency of course credits may not take a vacation without the permission of the Academic Standing Committee. Students on Report or Probation because their grade point average is below 2.0 who take a vacation term and then in the following term receive an F, NC, W, WH, or WR or who receive such a grade and take a vacation term immediately thereafter will be cited by the Academic Standing Committee for failure to earn one course credit in two consecutive terms. (See ``Report, Probation, and Suspension.'')
