How Your Gifts Help

   On Campus

As a residential college, Cornell offers students the opportunity to develop the full array of their skills in living and learning experiences outside the classroom. At Cornell, students learn important lessons about the responsibilities of living in a community and of caring for themselves and others.

A campus listed entirely on the National Register of Historic Places, with every one of its 19th-century buildings still intact, also provides a unique challenge to campus planners. These facility projects maintain the integrity and spirit of our historic Hilltop.

Opportunities for support include:

West Science
Campaign goal: $12.5 million

West Science, built  in 1976, has served our students well for many years—but today’s sophisticated science education demands up-to-date, sophisticated facilities. A 35,000-square-foot building addition will provide the lab space necessary for high-quality educational opportunities for biology, chemistry, and physics students over the next 20 years. Once the addition is completed, the existing space will be renovated and reconfigured.

The Commons
Campaign goal: $12 million

Since 1966, The Commons has served as the hub of campus life, with virtually every student visiting the Commons every day. Much of students’ education about leadership and service occurs in The Commons. Cornell plans a total overhaul of this building to nurture and support additional opportunities for students to grow and learn.

The renovation of Pfeiffer Hall, built in 1930, will modernize this residence hall to be responsive to changing student needs and to our desire to create learning communities as part of residence life.

King Chapel
Campaign goal: $2.5 million

For 125 years King Chapel has been our gathering place for campus-wide events, major speakers, and cultural activities. This project will restore building integrity, repair damaged exterior materials, alleviate the effects of building movement, and create a weather-proof building.
