Zygogramma suturalis is the scientific name for ragweed leaf beetles. Suturalis gets its common name, as do many other species, from what it eats, ragweed. In 1978, this type of beetle was introduced to Russia in order to control ragweed. Since that time it has been determined that the introduction could be considered a failure, as suturalis does not really influence the amount of ragweed in a crop rotation.
