The Spiny Leaf Insect [Extatosoma tiaratum] appears dangerous, but may actually be kept as a pet. To enhance their camouflage effect, the color of these insects varies; Depending on the type of leaves that they are fed, they will turn either a brown or green color. They are also able to blend in with their surroundings when alarmed by swaying back and forth which makes them look like a swaying leaf.
