The book Eensy Weensy Spider,
by Mary Ann Hoberman, follows the famous nursery rhyme where the spider
goes up the waterspout, and the rain washes him out and he tries again. Spiders are different from insects. All spiders are predators and mostly
eat insects, but some are big enough to capture and eat small birds or
mammals. Unlike insects, which have 6 legs, spiders have 8. Spiders are
also special in the fact that they have web-spinning structures on their
abdomens, called spinnerets. They use the silk to make webs to help catch
food and sometimes to wrap it up to eat later. Information from: |
