Yikes, what is that!! These scary little creatures are the larvae of the dobsonfly called hellgrammites. Young hellgrammites develop in water that contains high amounts of oxygen and is of high water quality. The larvae are known to be extremely ferocious and easily agitated. When going after its' prey, it uses it's strong jaws to catch its prey. Hellgrammites can be found under rocks, in rivers, and in streams.
