Velvet Water Bug

The velvet water bug is a member of the rare insect family hebridae of the order heteroptera. Of the 120 species in the Hebridae family, 15 are found in north america. Velvet water bug gets its' name by the fine, velvet like hairs that cover its' body. The small insects, usually less than 3 mm long, and can be found in freashwater habitats all over the world.
