The Toe biter, also known as the giant water
bug, gets it's name because both nymphs and adults are known to stab or
grab a person's bare foot. One of two types of the Giant Water Bug, the
eastern toe biter is found east of the Mississippi in North America. This
bug injects an anesthetic saliva that makes the body part become slightly
numb. The same saliva is injected into prey before sucking out the body
fluids of the victim.
