The oriental cockroach can be found in cool, moist areas such as sewers and damp basements. If it has access to water, it is possible to survive in dry areas. Most cockroachs are able to climb smooth surfaces with the use of sticky pads on their feet. Oriental cockroaches are not able to climb smooth surfaces, but use water pipes to make their way onto upper floors of buildings. After 6-8 weeks in the egg, the larvae emerge and mature within 6-12 weeks. The adults live about one year, during which females produce an average of 150 young. Source: http://www.ext.vt.edu |
