A
Fishing Spider

These large, hairy spiders have a mixed color of black, brown, and gray. Like other spiders, they have eight legs, two body parts, and fangs. Fishing Spiders are known to hang around a water's edge by rocks and pebbles. An interesting fact about fishing spiders is that they are known to run across the surface of water. From the surface, these spiders can catch minnows, tadpoles, and aquatic insects. One other interesting fact of fishing spiders, is that they can stay underwater for a brief period of time to either catch their prey or escape from predators.

This fishing spider carries her egg sack up a tree near a swamp where she makes her home. These spiders climb down to the water to capture mosquito larva or small fish from the water for food.
