A
Flour Beetle

Chances are that you have consumed a few Flour Beetles in your food without knowing it! These beetles are often found contaminating flour, and other grains.

These reddish brown beetles are about 3-4mm long, with a very distinct joint between their thorax and abdomen. The flour beetle is one of the most common pests around the house, hiding in furniture, and cabinet crevices. They tend to feed on grain, beans, dried fruits, and nuts. They have wings but apparently do not fly. While female beetles may life al long as two years, the male's life span can be summed up in one month. As their name would suggest, the flour beetles are the most abundant insect pests of flourmills in the United States
