Entomophagy

Entomophagy is the eating of bugs. From the survival standpoint, eating bugs seems like a pretty good idea, but when it comes to day-to-day meals in our homes, the thought can make some sick to their stomach. However, that doesn't mean that bugs are not edible. There are 1,462 recorded species of edible insects, and undoubtedly thousands more that have yet to be tasted.

Most Americans have no problem eating shrimp, lobster, chicken and even frog legs, but at the very thought of eating something with six legs that crunches beneath their teeth, will gag. We would have no problem eating fruit, berries, or nuts, but shy away from overturning a log to harvest grubs.

You might surprise yourself at just how good some of the world's creepy crawlers taste!
