P is for... Praying Mantis

praying manthis
This insect is very popular with humans because of it's tendency to eat up insects that we don't really care for -- grasshoppers, bees, beetles, other bugs. Mantids even eat each other sometimes! They have long front legs which are usually held folded unless they are attacking prey. When this happens, their legs extend to grab and hold onto their food while they eat.
