Earwigs are a fairly common insect, although one that you may not see often unless you are looking for them in your houseplants. Their wings are very short and not very useful for flying, because of this, they often jump from high places in order to move around. On the end of their abdomens, they have large pincherlike circi which can grab you if they are annoyed.
