zebra swallowtail
Swallowtails are some of the most beautifully colored butterflies in the world. The larvae are usually smooth-bodied and when disturbed they give off a foul odor. The larvae pass through the winter by chrysalis. The Swallowtails have different markings depending on what time of year they emerge out of their cocoon. They can be found in the eastern states in North America.
