N is for... Northern Cattle Grub

northern cow grub
The northern cattle grubs are flies that actually look more like a bee then a fly. The female cattle grub likes to lay her eggs on the hairs of the cattles legs and/or heels. After the eggs hatch, the cattle grub begin to crawl under the cow's skin. This process takes about an hour and is very painful for the cow. Once they're under the skin they take a tour of the body until they reach the spinal cord.
