Doodlebugs are backward-walking bugs, who live in sandy areas along lakes and rivers. To catch their food, they will dig a pit in the sand by walking backwards in a sprial using their hind legs to push the sand out of the way, and then lay in the bottom of the pit with only the top of their jaws showing. When other insects come along and fall into the pit, the doodlebud will capture them and eat them. |
